Local 306 was chartered in 1913 as a Local Union of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, founded in 1893. Local 306 is approaching the date of our IATSE Charter's 100th Anniversary. As we draw closer to that milestone event, look here for our history, the great personalities who built our union into a powerhouse for members and for our employers. We have weathered many storms and will continue to do so as we are resilient, we are well-trained and skillful, and among us are many leaders who will fill the gap when one of our leaders falters or retires. Please stop by again and often as changes will be made often. Thank you for your interest!
Here's a Member Opportunity: List the Names of these Members marching in the 1981 Labor Day Parade. E-mail your info to Labor-Parade@Local306.org and don't forget to identify yourself!
Know these old-timers? The member in 2nd row right (in yellow shirt) is Henry Ross of the Jackson Twin Cinemas way back when...(1981)
This magazine photograph from 1950 shows an involvement in world events the Local 306 and IATSE International leaders enjoyed. As the newly-constructed United Nations Headquarters on New York City soil was taking root, our forebears took on the task of helping the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization--UNESCO. Check out the photo caption which describes the scene. The magazine was published as PROJECTION Magazine.
